Hunting, Shooting & Fishing – July 1st 2010

**Fishing

Freshwater fishing licences to be reduced to £50 (game) and £25 (coarse) respectively -  none for sea...with a minimum of 65% of the take guaranteed to be ploughed back into river/lake/reservoir improvements of water, banks and fish stock.
Codes of good practice and sportsmanship to be overseen by local Bailiffs, river owners, and river managers on behalf of public water.....as hopefully now?!

General

On the shooting field... All juniors (under 18) to be accompanied by a proficient adult until gaining a certificate of ability from a recognised shooting school. This also to include field craft knowledge....Discourage the use of 'loaders' except for the very few grouse or partridge venues which warrant such action...Continue feeding wild stock until April.
Absolute NO to shooting on Sundays or Christmas Day...as being researched by DEFRA as of some three years ago....where did this get to...or does no one dare say?

Actively promote 'young people' (6-18) Countryside Days, to include all aspects of country life, ie NOT just a mini 'game fair'. No trade stands, but small representative stalls such as those focussing on country jobs, armed forces recruitment and countryside societies for older ones, alongside a few animals, hawks, laser clay shooting and a fishing scenario around a lake. At least two substantial 'large house/farming' venues required for each county, strategically placed, particularly to attract participants from towns....virtually free entry. The Young Farmers' groups are very keen to assist with this in a stewarding/coaching role.
Take cormorants off the 'protected list' as from 5 miles inland from the shore. All fishing enthusiasts to be encouraged to understand and participate in river maintenance and improvement.....particularly younger ones.
No more introduction on public or private ground of now extinct species to GB....such as beavers, wolves et al. Destroy/export those already released on this absurd initiative.

Penalties would be on an escalating scale to 'three strikes and you're out'!
Quite simply: continual shooting misdemeanours by owners, managers or participants could ultimately mean confiscation of guns, and cancellation of rights to shoot over the land in question in perpetuity. Hunting contraventions by landowners, hunt staff or followers (mounted or on foot), closure of the Hunt forthwith...for good.

I agree that the 'Countryside' should be re-directed, backed
by proper Parliamentary legislation on the lines of the above   …. YES

The 'Countryside' should be left as it is                               ….  NO
